Synchronize Standalone Mode

You may run Synchronize in standalone mode when your computer is disconnected from your office network. This feature allows you to use Synchronize while your computer is disconnected from your office network. This feature allows you to use Synchronize while you are on trips or working at another location. When you reconnect your computer to your network, you may merge any new Synchronize data you have created.

While your computer is disconnected, other users may still schedule you for events and send you to-dos and reminders. You may likewise schedule events with other users and send them to-dos and reminders. The major limitation is that you will not be able to see other users' free and busy time while you are running Synchronize in standalone mode.

Before you disconnect your computer from your network:

  1. From the Options menu, choose Configuration.

  2. Click on the Options tab, select Miscellaneous and set Enable standalone mode to true.

  3. Click OK and quit and restart Synchronize (so the changed option will take effect).

  4. When you quit Synchronize, a dialog box will ask if you want to save your schedule information to a local database. Click Yes.

  5. Now you may disconnect your computer and use Synchronize in a standalone mode. Each time you start Synchronize, click the Standalone checkbox in the Login dialog box. This casues the information you add to your calendar to be saved in a local database.
  6. When you reconnect your computer to your network and you start Synchronize, do not click the Standalone checkbox in the Login dialog box.

  7. If you have modified your local database, a dialog box will ask you if you want to merge the local data with the server database. Click Yes. This causes all of the information you added to your Synchronize calendar to be merged with the server database.

If you created an event that causes overbooking, the event is not scheduled for those users. If you created a recurring event that causes overbooking for users who have disallowed overbooking, the occurences of the event that casuse overbooking are not scheduled.
