Setting Popup Note Permissions

When you are creating or modifying a popup note, you may set permissions to control who can read and write in the note. If you do not set specific permissions for the note, it can (by default) be read by all users who have permission to read the calendar item to which it is attached, and can be writtin in only by you (the note's originator).

When you set permissions for a popup note, they apply only to the popup note and not to the calendar item to which the note is attached.

  1. Display an existing popup note or do the following when you are creating a new popup note.

  2. From the Permissions menu, choose Private, Public or Custom.

    • Private: The popup note can be modified only by its originator and viewed by the users selected to receive the calendar item to which the note is attached. This is the default popup note permission. If you choose Private, the menu goes away and the permission is set to Private.

    • Public: The popup note can be modified only by its originator and viewed by all Synchronize users. If you choose Public, the menu goes away and the permissions is set to Public

    • Custom: If you choose Custom, Synchronize displays the Custom Permissions dialog box. Proceed to step three.

  3. Click Readers and select the users you want to be able to read the popup note. If you deselect a user who has permission to read the calendar item, that user will not see the popup note's title in the Popup Notes menu when that calendar item is selected.

  4. Optionally, click Writers and select the users you want to be able to write in the popup note. Any of these users may then modify or delete the popup note.

  5. Click OK to apply the permissions and close the dialog box, or click Cancel to close the dialog box without applying permissions to the popup note.

  6. From the File menu, choose Add and Close if you are creating a new popup note or Modify and Close if you are modifying an existing popup note.
